I recently took my 2013 Escape Titanium in for a routine oil change at my local mechanic, who tells me my ecoboost has an oil leak.  Before I take the vehicle to the dealer and sit there all day, could someone explain in simple terms whether I can wait a while to have this checked?  or do I have reason to be concerned about a major malfunction while driving down the highway?

Mine has had the oil cooler leaking since 60,000 miles.  It leaks so little that, now at 106,000, I am not terribly concerned.  Estimate to repair is $671.

If you maintain the proper oil level you should have no concerns about catastrophic failure.
