2001 Ford Escape.
Had issues where the car lost power and eventually died. Removed the main CAT and pounded out the guts, replaced it, ran fine for months (well, not fine, but it ran). Eventually, the car would be driving down the road (no matter what speed) and it would just shut off. Sometimes the car would shut off at a stop light or stop sign. It would shake violently, then cut off. Sometimes no shake and just shut off. It would always start right back up and make it home. So, here's what has already been replaced. Fuses, spark plugs, coil packs, idle air control, O2, EGR, mass air flow, fuel pump, fuel pump relay, air and fuel filters. The last part I replaced was the Mass Air FLow. I replaced it in the parking lot of the parts store to give them the old core. It drove like a dream on the way home (about 2 miles). Then, I pulled into the driveway, put it in park, it died. Hasn't started up since (its been months now of just sitting in the drive way). I think the other two CAT converters are bad. Not sure. Probably. Anyway, I don't know where they are located and I need to get them off and cleaned or replaced. I can't afford to pay anyone to do it so I gotta do it myself.
