  1. Good morning. My wife's Escape has always had an issue with the #6 cylinder in that it misfires when it rains. I'd tried a couple solutions, up until the plug forcibly ejected itself out of the cylinder head last year. A very good mechanic had put in a heli-coil, and we still had the misfire, so I put on a new boot on the coil to see if the boot wasn't sealing correctly. It seemed to fix the problem until last Saturday when the spark plug detonated out of the cylinder head again and took the helicopter coil with it. My first thought was to replace the cylinder head, but as that is just as expensive as a gently used engine, I guess that will be my last option. I know Time Sert makes a kit for failed heli coils. So my question is: what other options are out there, to replace a failed coil?

    Welcome, Wesley Sands

Thank you. My wife has an '03 Ford Escape, now that it's getting up there in miles, I figured it was probably time to start connecting with other Escape owners. Thanks again.
