effed Report post Posted September 11, 2016 I loaded up a few bags of rocks in the back, drove down a steep hill.. next thing I know a yellow dash light came on, and the pedal went to the floor. I brought it to a local Ford dealership and they told me the "ABS Module" failed, and it'd be $4000 to replace it. Wow. I bought a used Module ($220) from a junkyard, had a buddy put it in, and it worked for a little while, then it didn't, then it did again, then it didn't.. he figures I got a bad part (?) So... do I try another used one? Is this a known problem with the 05 hybrids? We were talking about this idea... how about bypassing the whole system, and just putting in a conventional master cylinder?? Any advice? I really miss my Escape.. I saved forever to buy it and only got to drive it for 2 years. Now I'm driving a beater pickup truck.... this sucks. HELP! Thank you.... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
JT59 Report post Posted August 6, 2018 Hey effed. I had a problem that was diagnosed as the ABS control module. However, I talked to a gentlemen at a tire store and he said that the most often cause of the brake light coming on was a worn brake hose. The reason is that the system tries to build up pressure in the brake system before you ever start the car. If the pressure goes down to far while driving or applying the brakes, the light will come on. I had about 145,000M on mine and replace the front hoses and the problem went away. I am going to replace the rear hoses when I get a chance. Cost is much better than $4Gs. Hope this helps. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
