looneytunes9 Report post Posted August 2, 2014 Have a 2004 Ford Escape/almost 200,000 miles. Has been maintained very well. Has been dependable until about 6 months ago. Here is the scenerio: 1. engine gets hot from 30 min or more of heavy driving/not idling. 2. shut off engine at least 15 min or more. 3. engine will not restart keeps dying- unless you give it gas and hold down on gas pedal at least a min or more. Engine will Crank, has never died while driving or idling in traffic. New fuel pump in 2006/my fault, long story. New fuel pressure regulator/June 2014. This problem only happens intermittently. akirby Report post Posted August 2, 2014 I would replace the hoses and thermostat just to be safe. Next guess would be the water pump. If the no start only happens when it's overheated I would fix the overheat problem first. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
