  1. Hello all, I just purchased a 2012 Escape XLS with only 28k on it. So far I'm liking it but I'm concerned about the noise it has when stopped in drive. Sounds like a whine that goes away when put in neutral. A/C doesn't affect the noise either on or off. Not sure about the service history on this vehicle but it appears that it spent a lot of time idling and used in one location all these years. It is a former government vehicle, possibly a security vehicle judging by the light bar marks and hole in the roof. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Maybe just needs transmission serviced?

    C4DE issue

    I have a question about what's going on with my first gen. It's a 2002 xlt v6 auto 4x4. 122xxx miles. 1. The Torque convertor lockup in 4th is pretty rough. I've heard that this is from the convertor slipping on lock up and pretty common. With OD off it's not nearly as noticable but that could be from the RPM difference. 2. Recently, when it locks it will sometimes make a scraping type sound or hesitate to lock. It feels like a gear slip. I've owned it for less than a year so the maintenance history is not know but everything looks like it was babied by the P.O. anyone have this issue that could point me where to start? I love my car and would rather not rip the gears up or something.

  4. I have a 2009 3.0L fwd with the 6f35 259k. Once it finally quit moving I installed a shift kit and upgraded solonoid kit flushed multiple times with ford recommended fluid. And its still just sitting still is there a cheap way to reflash the pcm or do I have to take it to dealership and get *ucked? I am a decent mechanic but can't afford top end programming equipment
  5. Hey everyone, I just finished installing a remanufactured alternator in my wife's 2005 Ford Escspe. I pulled the passanger side drive shaft and intermediate shaft to make the repair and some oill leaked out of what appears to be the transmission. I am new to the Ford Escape platform and google has not been very helpful. My question is this; on this vehicle what do the front intermediate shafts connect to? The trans or a gearbox? I just want to make sure I refill the missing fluid before she starts driving it again. 05 Escape, 2WD, automatic, V6 3.0L. TIA! SubNetZero
  6. Hi All, I have a 2008 Ford Escape FWD that just reached 200km. Two days ago, the "wrench" light came up on the dash, and I am noticing acceleration issues... From a dead stop, ill press the accelerator and the engine will rev up to 2000-3000rpm, but the car is slow to accelerate. Then when I let go of the accelerator, the car will switch to the next gear, and everything will be fine. This happens everytime the car goes from dead stop to the first gear. I searched my VIN and there were no recalls for my model/year, but was seeing a lot of similar issues for 2009 and higher years with something called "Throttle Body" but I have an 2008 model. I hope its not an expensive issue. please help!!!! thx in advance.
  7. Guys/gals, I'd like to start adding a few things to my 2010 Escape' Limited but I have no idea where to begin. I don't want to do anything extreme just lift it an inch or so, beefier tires, new exhaust and intake, and a grill guard. What websites does everyone go to? I checked out a few but was a little worried as to whether or not the parts would actually fit my Escape. Furthermore, I've noticed a shifting issue with my transmission (lag between first and second gear and a pause when shifting from drive to reverse). I read that sometimes or torque converters have issues so I've thought about replacing that and/or throwing on a shift kit. Any help is appreciated as my wife wants me to get a Jeep but I am trying to avoid that like the plague!
  8. My 2006 XLT 3.0 with 85K did not have any sustancial problem until, O/D began to blink and suddenly motor stalled and not engaged. Specialist checked and codes were generic transmission and speed sensor. After few minutes, motor engages for 100 feet and then stalls again. New transmission liquid does the same and he checked using directly gear 1 and the same, so apparently no PCM is the cause. Did anyone in the forum experience the same problem before? And let me know if it was solved exchanging the transmission, please. Thank you.
  9. Anyone else having a similar issue? I have owned a 2013 Escape for almost 4 months and have over 5000 mile on it. During this period I have had 8 incidents where the car downshifts very hard when crossing the 20mph mark as I stop for a light or stop sign. Two of these incidents sounded like full metal-to-metal jamming of gears. All incidents have occurred during the morning and during the first 2 miles of driving. My routine has me stopping twice in the first two miles from speeds upwards of 50mph. Other than this the transmission operates beautifully. I had it in to the dealer for the last couple of days. All tests past with flying colors. Obviously with only 8 incidents It was predictable it did not act up for them. So I am just reaching out to see if others have sensed hard/abrupt downshifting on their 2013 escapes. Obviously I am concerned that such incidents could lead to premature tranny failure.
