ScottyGunn Report post Posted September 12, 2011 Well, I guess someone has to start it, lol. Does anyone on this forum have any experience with the Hybrids?
Ed F Report post Posted September 24, 2011 (edited) I posted this reply on the Welcome Section - so here it goes again. I own a '09 FWD Hybrid with over 55,000 miles on it. Great gas mileage, although when driving at hi speed with the A/C on the gas mileage suffers a little. I just got back from a trip to Yellowstone National Park (I live in California), averaged 30 mpg. Drove across Nevada @ 75 mph (legal limit) for 5 hours with the A/C on and my mileage dropped to around 28 mpg. At Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks in Wyoming. The speed limit is 45 mph in the parks, I managed up to 37.5 mpg. The 4WD Escape gets a little less in mpg. If you buy a hybrid Escape make sure it is a 2009 or newer because the 4 cyl. engine has a bit more power plus you have stability control as standard equipment. I live near the Sierra mountain range and do quite a bit of mountain driving as well as highway driving in LA, San Francisco, etc. I've taken this car to the Grand Canyon two years ago and Bryce Canyon, UT last year. Never had a problem with power hill climbing or passing at highway speeds. However, the engine is noisy at times. I change oil every 10,000 miles just like the manual says. Never a problem. Hope this helps. Edited September 24, 2011 by Ed F
