BlueRock15 Report post Posted April 22, 2018 Hi all, I'm new to the forums, glad to be aboard. I'm having an issue with my 2009 Escape 3.0 L . It's an intermittent problem. Sometimes when I turn the key, the dash lights all come on as normal but the engine will not crank at all. The digital odometer reads no numbers, just a set of dashes like this - - - - - - - -. Car will start maybe next time, maybe not. Does not matter if I wiggle the key or push it inward etc. One time I just moved the console gear selector arm and it then started on the next try. Don't know if it was a fluke. Wondering if anyone has had this issue. I've been online researching it a bit. What is the probability that I have a bad Transmission Range Sensor? Or is it more likely that I have a worn ignition lock module or ignition switch? Thanks for any suggestions that anyone can offer !!
jclguru Report post Posted May 7, 2018 Sounds like the same problem that just popped up on my 2014 Ford Escape. I have the problem when my Escape hasn't been started for about 8 hours. It'll take me pushing on the accelerator a little for the engine to turn over. After that, absolutely no problems in starting...unless those hours pass. Ford has my Escape now. Hopefully, I'll find out the cause in the next day or two. Doug
jclguru Report post Posted May 14, 2018 After a week at Ford, they still have no clue. They hooked up my Escape to do some type of fuel pressure test. The tech said that's normal. Doug
mrtechnologist2u Report post Posted October 17, 2020 search you tube for no crank no start! Common problem. Turn key to run then push Firmly in and turn to start. The plastic Ignition Lock Module wears out. I dont know if Ford doesnt want to admit it has a problem. My dealer says Lots of spares in stock!
