Proper way to fill coolant on 2006 Escape V6?

Recommended Posts

So I had to take the plenum apart to replace a spark plug and a coil pack on cylinder #3, and somehow I stupidly missed reconnecting two coolant hoses. I started it and drove it down the street in my subdivision and back and parked it; that's it.

But I noticed it definitely dumped a somewhat significant amount of coolant.

Now, I've Googled, and keep getting two conflicting answers; some say you just fill it from the overflow tank cap, and some say to disconnect the hose to the overflow tank and fill it straight into the hose with a funnel.

Which is correct?

Any help is appreciated,
